What You Should Know Before Your Newborn Session
Most images will be taken while in a deep sleep. I am trained in baby-posing safety and always follow your baby’s cues, keeping safety and comfort as my primary goal.Your newborn session will typically last between 2-4 hours and always allows time for breast feeding, diaper changes, and snuggles. How far in advance do I need to book a baby photo shoot session?
I recommend that you reserve your newborn session at least 3 months ahead of your actual due date if possible. Reserving a photo shoot well in advance of your child's birth helps ensure that your desired date and time is not already fully booked. Dont hesitate to call me last minute. I can sometimes fit you in and if not I will help you find another photographer!
What is the best baby age for newborn photos?
The best time to capture newborn baby photographs is within the first 10 days of life. This timeframe is ideal for themed newborn photos and newborn props. But honestly from my experience, it's never too late to book a photo shoot for your baby. Infant portraits are also very special!
How long does a newborn photography session take?
Most newborn photography sessions take 2 to 3 hours. Please be prepared for up to 4 hours of time for the shoot, because it could last longer depending on how settled (or unsettled, let's be real) your baby is.
Why do baby photo shoots take so long?
A 3 to 4 hour photography session sounds like a long time, but believe me - it flies by! This allows us plenty of time for feeding, changing and settling your baby as many times as necessary without feeling rushed. We will go at your baby’s pace.
Do you have newborn baby props, clothing, and accessories? Should I bring my own outfits and accessories?
I have everything that you need for your baby’s pictures. Feel free to bring any of your own props to incorporate into the shoot. My studio is stocked FULL of newborn backdrops, baskets, clothing sets, floors, backdrops, wraps, headbands, outfits, bows, ties, and accessories. If we're shooting on location or in your home and there is a particular prop, theme or photography style you prefer; please let me know prior to the shoot.

How much do newborn photo shoots cost per hour?
Typically photographers charge by the session vs. by the hour, although some may charge by the hour for custom photography packages and a la carte sessions. My price per baby photo session is $399, and most shoots take 3 to 4 hours. My pricing is competitive; other professional photographers may charge more or different fee structures.
Can I request a theme for my baby pictures?
Yes you can absolutely request a theme or style for your baby pics! If you have an idea or ideas, give me a call so we can start planning your amazing baby's portraits. I've had parents use items from their military uniforms as props, firefighter parents too. And I love creating duo and trio themed photography sets. Newborn twin babies, triplets, all very welcome and doted on.
